The NH Research 4600-3 AC Electronic Load is a highly advanced and versatile 3 kW test instrument designed for applications requiring precise linear and non-linear AC loading across various emulation modes. This device is designed with the express purpose of guaranteeing the dependability of AC sources, inverters, switches, circuit breakers, fuses, and connections as well as uninterruptible power supply (UPS). It may be used in a variety of testing conditions because it has a maximum current of 30 A and can withstand voltages between 50 and 350 V.

With its sturdy shell measuring 23 x 49 x 59 cm and weighing 77 lbs (35 kg), the 4600-3 guarantees a small-sized but effective testing solution. Testing may be programmed and monitored easily and effectively with the help of the user interface, which is operated by a PC soft panel. It works with a Windows XP-powered PC system that has an 80 GB hard drive, an SVGA display, a 512 MB RAM, and a 3 GHz processor. In order to improve its integration with pre-existing test settings, the device also comes with drivers for NI LabVIEW, IVI, and ActiveX. Additionally, it supports communications via RS-232 and has an alternative USB interface.

The 4600-3 provides seven different emulation modes: the Complex Non-Linear Waveform (CNL) mode, Short Circuit (SC), Constant Voltage (CV), Constant Power (CP), Constant Resistance (CR), Constant Current (CC), and Unity Power Factor (UPF). By simulating a broad variety of AC loading situations, from steady-state to intricate transient events, these modes allow the device to thoroughly evaluate the unit under test (UUT). With the added benefit of an auto-check option to guarantee compatibility with the load's capabilities, the device's user-defined waveform capability enables the generation and editing of waveforms adapted to individual testing needs.

Built-in protection and performance monitoring features on the 4600-3 include continuous performance parameter checks and automated problem notifications. Included are a self-test at power-up, closed-cover calibration stored in an EEPROM, and protections against reverse voltage, undervoltage lockout, overvoltage, overcurrent, overload, and overtemperature.
